About You Liang

You Liang is a Singapore-born, Tokyo-based DJ and producer creating melody-first dance music defined by emotional hooks, chord-driven writing, and a vocal-aware approach to arrangement. Working across house and progressive styles, their music prioritizes melodic narrative over loop-based utility, resulting in tracks that connect equally on the dancefloor and in everyday listening.

Their musical foundation began in 2014 at Keio University, where they performed as a vocalist and drummer and composed for Tokyo’s underground idol scene. Writing for J-pop acts shaped their approach to melody, phrasing, and emotional pacing—skills that now underpin their club productions. As their sound evolved, they incorporated influences from progressive trance, piano house, and melodic harddance, while maintaining a consistent focus on memorable top-line gestures and harmonic lift.

Since 2023, You Liang has performed over 500 shows across Asia and Europe, holding residencies at ZEROTOKYO and WOMB, and appearing internationally in Korea, Spain, and Singapore. In 2025, they performed at Blend XL and the Data Transmission showcase at Vic’s Bar during Amsterdam Dance Event, and were selected as a Pete Tong DJ Academy Future Talent, presented live at IMS Ibiza. They also joined the lineup for It’s The Ship Singapore alongside Nicky Romero, Alok, and Timmy Trumpet.

Their discography includes releases on labels such as Revealed Recordings, Smash The House, and Black Hole Recordings, earning support from Don Diablo, Cuebrick, and Chester Young, alongside chart placements on Beatport, Traxsource, and iTunes, and editorial playlisting on Spotify and Apple Music. As We Rave You summarized, “Paving their own way in the dance scene, You Liang has set their standards high, and their genre-blending capabilities allow them to stand out from the rest.”

In Japan, they have performed on major domestic stages including multiple appearances at the Keio University Mita Festival - one of Tokyo’s largest student-run events, and the Global Groove Festival.
